Rose oil is an essential oil. Large growing areas of the rose are Bulgaria, Turkey and southern France. Rose oil is obtained by steam distillation, with only the freshly picked by hand in the early morning hours petals are processed. During the day, their ingredients lose their intensity. Incredibly many flowers are needed, from a ton of rose petals results in a yield of only 200-300 grams of pure rose oil.
The four main ingredients are geraniol, citronellol, and linalool and phenylethyl alcohol. The expense of production and the low yield make rose oil one of the most valuable and expensive, common essential oils in the world.
