The Ginkgo (Ginkgo biloba) is a tree species originally from China and the last representative of its living species. The ginkgo has been used and found as an ornamental plant and temple tree since around AD 1000 also entered Europe and North America in the 1800s. At the turn of the millennium, he was appointed by the German Board of Trustees "Tree of the Year" declared as a tree of the millennium and as a memorial for peace.
In addition to the TCM, which has always used the seeds, roots and leaves of the Ginkgo biloba, its seeds are also used as food, especially in Asia.
However, it is mainly its leaves that make the tree so interesting for us. In addition to the active ingredients sitosterols and anthocyanins, it is particularly terpenoids and flavonoids, especially ginkgolides and flavone glycosides, which are abundant. To protect against herbivores and diseases, the leaves are also strongly acidic.
In a complex process to produce our Ginkgo Extract, the positive active ingredients are concentrated several times by a high drug-extract ratio and the proportion of ginkgolic acid is simultaneously reduced to a maximum of 5 ppm.
