Frankincense Oil

Frankincense, also known as Olibanum is obtained by the genus of Boswellia trees. These trees grow in African and Arab regions.
The oil is obtained by steam distillation from the resin of the frankincense tree. For this purpose, the tree is scratched on the bark with special knives; the milky, sticky mass emerges and is collected. Up to eight kilograms of resin is needed for just a single liter of oil.
The main pharmacological active ingredient is boswellic acid, which occurs exclusively in incense resin. Further active ingredients are essential oils, bitter substances, mucilage and a relatively high proportion of gum.

Avaiable origin: Boswellia serrata from India or Boswellia carterri from Somalia.
